Ground and Tree nut Sorting Plants

PPE valuations has surveyed several groundnut and tree nut sorting plants in the Northern Cape and Northwest Province as well as one of the largest groundnuts drying facilities in South Africa. The production of tree nuts is a growing industry in the agricultural sector of South Africa and with the need for state-of-the-art sorting and grading plants which comply to export standards many sorting facilities have entered the market.

A ground or tree nut sorting facility is seldom viewed as a specialised property as any industrial building can be converted with relative ease for the receiving and processing of nuts. A ground or tree nut sorting facility is therefore valued using two methods: the land and building is valued using the Comparable Sales approach or the Income approach, while the plant and equipment is valued using the Depreciated Replacement Cost Approach. The final value is the sum of the different components.
