Fruit Packaging

PPE Valuations have valued several fruit packing facilities in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape (Addo) area.
Fruit packing facilities can range from very “hands-on” such as for export grapes where every bunch is individually handled and packed, to high speed electronic sorters and graders such as used in the packing of stone, pome and citrus fruits.

Fruit packing facilities can be classified as specialised properties since the work area is often temperature controlled and cold rooms usually form part of the infrastructure. The land, buildings and plant & equipment are often valued separately using three different approaches with the final value being the sum of the components. The land component is usually valued using the Comparable Sales approach while the buildings, improvements and plant are valued using the Depreciated Replacement Cost approach.
